When it rains, it pours . . . . . and then some.

Doesn't life seem so full of irony sometimes?  That has been mine for the past two months maybe even for the past year.  Life is so unexpected as well.

So this blog is all about wherever life takes you, no matter where you are it's meant to be an adventure.  Well, just when life was headed where we wanted it to be . . . to due north, the earth just seemed to flop in polarity and it sent our compass spinning.

This is us two months ago on Christmas Eve at Plaza Senayan in Jakarta.  We had just visited an Indonesian Santa Claus with black sneakers on who didn't speak a lick of english.  This Christmas wasn't so different than previous Christmas' in that we haven't been with family during the holidays in 5 years.  The difference being in a foreign country with all the stark contrasts of celebrating Christmas in a Muslim country to the constancy of the weather.  We had monsoon rain instead of wind, snow, and cold air.  Can't say that I missed it.  Within a matter of two weeks Adeleigh and I were here . . .

in a tiny Asian hotel room in Singapore on medical evacuation for Adeleigh.  This is when "when it rains, it pours" takes on significant meaning.

And in another two weeks, after nearly two weeks bouncing between hotel and hospital in Singapore, Adeleigh and I are here in DC under more austere, cold weather and under not so happy terms.  We can't  go back to this . . . .

and this . . .

and on and on.  Adeleigh became too sick to be in Jakarta which meant our family would have to pack up and leave.  We had to leave a city, a country, and a people that we have fallen in love with.  A place where our family grew and flourished.  A place that was the start of our future that we had prepared for for eight long years.
